Hästmannen showing Sunday, Oct 26 @ 6pm

October 26, 2008

The Swedish Film Program will be showing Hästmannen (The Incredible Horseman) this Sunday, Oct 26, 2008, at 6pm at the Swedish American Museum. As usual, doors will open beforehand at 5:30pm and refreshments and popcorn will be available.

Summary

The film “Hästmannen” (Nov. 2006 - Swe) is a documentary by Peter Gerdehad and Tell Johansson. It’s about a farmer whose refusal to accept modern technology in favor of doing things traditionally has become both an inspiration and a sensation in Sweden. It is a rare honest showcase of both the determination and will of man. It captures a spirit few films can achieve and has received rave reviews both in and out of Sweden. And there is something so distinctly Swedish in Hästmannen’s way of life that it is truly inspirational to many who see it. It really is an incredible movie (ask around).

One more thing

I apologize for getting the notice out last minute, but I am currently in the process of moving to Portland (and am sending this from there). This does not mean that this will be the last showing of the film program necessarily, but the museum may need someone to assist them in the future. Anyone interested please send an email to me at lagom@chicagoswedes.org. Thanks!
